The Gas Bar Clerk Cashier ensures exceptional customer service while maintaining a safe and efficient operation, adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards. This role also involves regular clean-up duties to ensure the gas bar remains efficient, safe, and clean. The position reports directly to the Gas Bar Supervisor or Manager.
Key responsibilities include providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive customer relations by effectively handling questions, comments, requests, and complaints. The Clerk Cashier proficiently works in a diverse team environment. This role involves accurately filling appropriate fuel into vehicles according to company minimum service standards, and filling propane into vehicles and bottles as per CF03 propane training course requirements.
Additional duties encompass efficiently stocking and displaying merchandise, ensuring proper stock levels and presentation in the convenience store. This may involve assisting with unloading stock and supplies from supplier vehicles. The Clerk Cashier handles merchandise to ensure quality, minimise damages and markdowns, and maintain price integrity, including processing price changes. General clean-up duties are also required, such as cleaning spills, display fixtures, equipment inside the convenience store and at pump islands, and washrooms. The role ensures the sales floor, back stock area, and pump islands are kept clean of cardboard and debris, and disposes of garbage appropriately.
The position requires adherence to established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers. All rules and regulations regarding the safe handling of workplace hazardous materials must be followed. The Clerk Cashier ensures the proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and tools, reporting repair requirements to the Gas Bar Supervisor, Manager, or Duty Manager. Assistance with ordering merchandise and supplies, receiving procedures (including reviewing invoices, returns, transfers, and proper product storage), and organising and conducting sundry and tobacco inventory takes may also be required. The role is responsible for adhering to all Tobacco and Lottery policies and regulations, maintaining cigarette and stock levels, office filing, and other assigned duties.
What You'll Bring
To be considered for this role, candidates must have a Grade 9 education or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and fluent in English, demonstrated by a Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment (CLBA) score of 5 or higher.
Previous retail or related experience would be considered a significant asset and will help you stand out.
