As a Gas Bar Clerk Cashier, you will provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a safe and efficient operation while adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards. You will also contribute to maintaining a clean and organised gas bar environment. This position reports directly to the Gas Bar Supervisor or Gas Bar Manager.
Your responsibilities will include providing excellent customer service and fostering positive customer relations by effectively handling questions, comments, requests, and complaints. You will work proficiently and friendly within a diverse team environment. You will perform all aspects of filling appropriate fuel into vehicles according to company minimum service standards, and safely fill propane into vehicles or bottles as per CF03 propane training course.
You will efficiently manage stocking and display functions, ensuring proper presentation and stock levels in the convenience store. This may involve assisting with unloading stock and supplies from suppliers’ vehicles where required. You will handle merchandise carefully to minimise damages and markdowns, ensuring price integrity and processing price changes.
General clean-up duties are essential, including but not limited to, cleaning spills, cleaning display fixtures and equipment inside the convenience store and out at pump islands, and cleaning washrooms to maintain a neat and organised department. You will be responsible for keeping the sales floor, back stock area, and pump islands clean of cardboard and debris, as well as disposal of garbage.
You will follow established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers. Adherence to all rules regarding the safe handling of workplace hazardous materials is required. You will ensure proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and tools, reporting repair requirements to the Gas Bar Supervisor, Manager, or Duty Manager.
Additional duties may include assisting with ordering merchandise and supplies where required, and assisting with receiving procedures such as reviewing and verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims, and proper storage of products. You may also assist with organising and conducting sundry and tobacco inventory takes, and you will be responsible for adhering to all Tobacco and Lottery policies and regulations. Maintaining cigarette and stock levels, office filing, and other assigned duties are also part of this role.
What You'll Bring
To be considered for this role, you should possess a Grade 9 education or an acceptable combination of education and experience. You must be at least 16 years of age and fluent in English, demonstrated by a Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment (CLBA) score of 5 or higher. Previous retail or related experience will also be a valuable asset for this position.
