About the Role
This role is a 9-month contract opportunity with Sonnet, part of Definity, located in Toronto, Ontario. As a Digital Content Specialist, you will join a collaborative and forward-thinking team shaping the future of insurance. You will work across various disciplines including UX, product, marketing, and CRM to create clear, compelling, and user-centred content.
Your content will guide users through complex digital journeys, covering discovery, quoting, purchasing, and policy management with ease and clarity. This position is within a product team, and a strong understanding of UX heuristics is essential. Candidates with Canadian property and casualty insurance industry experience are highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver multi-channel content solutions, ensuring content meets accessibility standards, aligns with Sonnet’s voice and style, and supports organisational goals. Thinking strategically, you will connect content deliverables to broader business objectives and user needs, applying UX writing and content design principles to enhance the online insurance purchase experience.
Your work includes creating content for product and landing pages, publishing them using Adobe Experience Manager, and working closely with design, user research, product, marketing, development, and legal teams. You will develop content for FAQs, email journeys, and transactional flows that support customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
This role involves designing intuitive features and flows with words, delivering clear, consistent, accessible microcopy for in-app flows and complex forms, and explaining product features in plain language to diverse audiences. You will also craft newsletter and email copy to convert, retain, educate, and entertain audiences, and coordinate with translation services for French-speaking audiences.
What You'll Bring
Candidates should have a minimum of two to four years of professional experience in UX writing, content design, or digital content creation, preferably within a Canadian regulated industry such as insurance or finance. Experience in the Canadian auto and home insurance industry is considered a strong asset. A strategic mindset with a passion for solving user and business problems through content is required, along with a foundation in optimising content for SEO and GEO.
A portfolio demonstrating your ability to apply content solutions to digital products, flows, interactions, conversational interfaces, and transactional emails is essential. Experience using AI tools, such as Google Gemini, to refine workflows and streamline content creation is an asset. Understanding of web accessibility standards and inclusive writing practices, experience in Agile environments, and familiarity with tools like Jira and Figma are also important.
Proficiency with CMS platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager and the ability to quickly learn new tools are necessary. Strong collaboration skills and a customer-first mindset are key, and bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
