Key Accountabilities and Expertise
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting Crude Oil Marketers in the negotiation, execution, and administration of a wide array of agreements, including purchase, sale, exchange, transportation, storage, and terminalling contracts. Maintaining accurate commercial contract records and terms, encompassing pricing, General Terms and Conditions, credit requirements, delivery obligations, nominations, notices, renewals, and expiry dates, will be a core responsibility. A significant part of your contribution will involve developing a robust working knowledge of Western Canadian crude oil markets, understanding pipeline tariffs, nomination procedures, apportionment, and various transportation alternatives, alongside quality requirements and market access constraints. You will collaborate extensively with Legal, Credit, Risk, and Accounting departments to facilitate contract approvals, counterparty onboarding, credit reviews, and ensure accurate settlement processes. Coordinating with Logistics and Scheduling will be essential to assess the commercial impact of nominations, delivery performance, pipeline constraints, and operational disruptions. Furthermore, you will review pipeline tariff changes, regulatory filings, and industry notices to identify potential commercial impacts and recommend proactive actions, while also supporting the timely and professional resolution of commercial disputes, claims, and invoice issues. Preparing comprehensive contract summaries, issue logs, position updates, and commercial analysis for Marketers and management will be a regular task, as will tracking and analyzing fees, pricing, differentials, quality adjustments, and transportation costs to support value-focused decision-making.
