We seek applicants with a wide range of abilities and provide an accessible candidate experience. Your Key Responsibilities
You will give meaning to data through expert data modelling. This includes performing and coordinating complex database modelling in Oracle and Postgres databases, designing application data infrastructure using modelling tools, and leading the design, development, and management of cost-effective and innovative solutions. You will engage in designing, developing, and maintaining database systems to meet organisational requirements, working individually on tasks such as database management, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration.
Furthermore, you will contribute to strategic planning by developing multi-year technology roadmaps that align with the bank’s vision and business objectives, leading multiple complex projects involving backend systems, new technology, and application enhancements. You will also demonstrate leadership skills by acting as a database developer and administrator, facilitating discussions with the wider team to ensure project objectives are met, and supporting and mentoring intermediate and senior peers through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and problem-solving. You will effectively interact with stakeholders, end users, business analysts, and technical resources to gather requirements, prepare design specifications, and provide technical support for applications.
What You'll Bring
You will bring over seven years of hands-on experience with Oracle, Postgres, and SQL Server. This includes expertise in conceptual modelling to represent high-level data requirements, logical modelling to specify relationships between data entities and attributes, and physical modelling for database implementation including tables, columns, and indexes. You are skilled in data quality assurance to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness, along with database tuning and performance optimisation to monitor, identify, and improve database performance. Your experience extends to database backup and recovery, developing disaster recovery plans, and performing routine data backups.
You are proficient in code implementation, writing, testing, and maintaining SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and triggers, as well as analysing and tuning queries for efficiency. Automation skills are essential, demonstrated through developing Linux/Unix shell scripts for data loading, system monitoring, backups, and maintenance. A basic understanding of ETL skills, Agile, Scrum, OOP knowledge, data warehousing, data mining, Informatica basics, Databricks, Edge, ADF, and Cloud technologies is considered an asset. Beyond technical skills, you enjoy investigating complex problems, making sense of information, and communicating detailed information effectively. You are digitally savvy, seeking innovative solutions and adapting to evolving technologies, and you are passionate about continuous learning and growth. You embody CIBC’s values of trust, teamwork, and accountability.
