job description
About the Role
The Rec Room at Roundhouse in Toronto is seeking a seasonal Bartender. As an integral part of the team, you will provide an exceptional dining experience to every guest. This role involves preparing alcoholic drinks, pouring wine and beer for patrons, and ensuring guests have a great time. If you thrive in an energetic, fast-paced, and social atmosphere, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include taking and filling drink orders, garnishing and serving drinks, collecting payments, and operating the point-of-sale system. You will maintain a clean work area by tidying up after guests, removing empty bottles and trash, replacing empty beer kegs, and washing glasses and utensils. Additionally, you will monitor and maintain inventory by tracking wines, beers, and liquors, ordering bar supplies as needed, and stocking the bar with liquor bottles, mixed drink ingredients, and other supplies from the storeroom. Maintaining a safe environment is crucial; this involves checking guests’ identification to confirm they meet the minimum drinking age, determining when a customer has consumed too much alcohol, ceasing service, arranging a safe ride home if necessary, and refusing service or contacting police when required.
What You'll Bring
To be successful in this role, you should possess a High-School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent, and be the required age of majority or older. A minimum of one to two years of bartending experience is essential. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge of standard drink recipes and completion of bartending classes are preferred qualifications. You will also need demonstrated time management and organisational skills, along with excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities. A provincially applicable certificate for the sale and handling of alcohol is required.
Perks of Working Here
As an employee, you will enjoy a range of benefits including tuition assistance and access to an employee assistance program. We offer flexible hours and provide discounted food and beverages during your shifts. There are also opportunities for professional growth within the company.
