About this Opportunity

The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position within the esteemed Department of Civil Engineering on the UBC Vancouver campus. This is a unique faculty opportunity for a dedicated professor to contribute to a top-ranked academic unit known for excellence in research and teaching. We are seeking a candidate with a strong interest in leading innovative research and teaching in Project and Construction Management, particularly in the areas of digital transformation, sustainable lifecycle management, and/or equitable delivery of civil infrastructure systems. This role is crucial for advancing the department's strategic priorities, which focus on creating opportunities for the betterment of society, nature, and the built environment through civil engineering education and research. In exceptional cases, an Associate Professor (tenured or tenure track) may be considered.

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering department at UBC, you will be expected to make significant contributions across research, teaching, and service.

  • Hold a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration within five years of appointment, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists, British Columbia.
  • Have evidence of or demonstrated potential to develop a strong externally funded research program.
  • Have evidence of or demonstrated potential for high-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching, along with the ability to provide effective supervision of graduate students.
  • Have evidence of or demonstrated commitment to provide service to the academic and broader community.
  • Have demonstrated commitment and ability to contribute to the Department’s equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigeneity initiatives, and to promote an inclusive, collaborative, and respectful community.
