This Senior AI Automation Engineer position is a high-leverage opportunity to embed across Later's Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Customer Success teams, among others. The primary goal is to replace manual, repetitive work with robust AI-powered tooling. This role uniquely blends engineering, internal consulting, and coaching, enabling the successful candidate to build critical automations today while empowering non-technical colleagues to build the next wave themselves. You will work across Later's lines of business, including Later Influence, Later Social, and Mavely, gaining broad visibility into the company's operations and regular exposure to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities & Impact

The core responsibilities for this role involve significant partnership and discovery, where you will embed with non-technical stakeholders across various functions to deeply understand their workflows. This includes surfacing high-impact automation opportunities and translating ambiguous problems into clear technical solutions. A major part of the role is building and shipping automations and internal tools using AI-native platforms, scripting, and APIs, with a pragmatic approach to getting the job done. This means shipping working v1s quickly to validate value and wiring together LLMs, agents, and RAG patterns with existing systems to deliver real workflow outcomes. Beyond initial development, you will focus on scaling and reliability, hardening prototypes with necessary observability, error handling, and reusability for production use. A crucial aspect is enablement and coaching, where you will advise non-technical colleagues building their own automations, reviewing their work, unblocking them, and levelling up their skills over time. Success in the first 6-12 months includes a portfolio of automations in production with documented business impact across at least three teams, a measurable lift in non-technical colleagues confidently building their own automations, and recognition as the go-to partner for automation questions across the organisation.

Candidate Profile & Compensation

A business-first mindset, resourcefulness, and a bias to action are highly valued, ensuring that solutions are pragmatic and delivered efficiently. The ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical audiences and coach others to build their own solutions is also critical. Experience in an internal-tools, RevOps, BizOps, or 'applied AI' function, or a background in supporting non-technical builders, is a bonus. Later takes a market-based and data-driven approach to compensation, leveraging trusted third-party sources to determine market value based on function, level, geographic location, and scope. Salaries are benchmarked against market Total Cash Compensation for the Vancouver, BC location, with a listed range of $110,000-160,000 CAD.
