The Opportunity
Our Customer Marketing team is seeking an Advertising and Promotions Coordinator for a full-time permanent role. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Brand Strategy, you will coordinate the development, planning, and execution of marketing and promotional programs that support the Customer Marketing’s annual Brand Strategy plan. This position is based in-office at our 10 Bay Street location in Toronto. Our team thrives on collaboration, and much of our work benefits from in-person co-creation, relationship-building, and hands-on partnership with leaders across the organisation.
What You'll Do
You will research and prepare marketing briefs, detailing resource, budget requirements, and logistical considerations, including the acquisition of necessary resources, materials, and supplier services for successful advertising, promotion, and event delivery. This role involves planning and managing budgets for advertising and promotional projects and events. You will coordinate the planning, production, and delivery of marketing strategy projects across all channels, including broadcast, print, social, digital, owned assets, and events, ensuring initiatives reflect brand objectives and align with brand standards. You will integrate knowledge from stakeholder relationships, cross-functional teams, and industry best practices into current and future marketing initiatives.
Key responsibilities also include developing integrated marketing strategies and advertising toolkits with clear, measurable objectives, and coordinating the production and execution of plans, campaigns, and events to generate increased ridership and revenue while enhancing brand reputation. You will liaise with cross-functional teams, advising on communication, advertising, and event planning methods appropriate to marketing objectives and target audiences. Additionally, you will provide consultation to Metrolinx business units on brand standards and guidelines, implementing the brand strategy across the organisation and managing corporate brand reputation. You will prepare and coordinate high-quality communication materials, such as web copy, social media copy, advertising copy, backgrounders, and feature articles, ensuring all necessary approvals are secured. You will conduct customer insights research, requesting additional market research from consulting agencies when needed, to build compelling marketing campaigns that resonate with customers and influence desired behaviours. Collaborating with internal teams across Communications, Market Research, Customer Analytics, and Partnerships will be crucial for gaining buy-in and addressing feedback. You will also consult with Metrolinx external partners, including creative and multi-cultural advertising agencies, private partner organisations, and community partners, to provide recommendations and evaluate the success of promotional and advertising campaigns and events. Corporate representation on advertising, marketing, and special project committees will also be required.
What You'll Bring
You should possess knowledge of marketing management and advertising principles, typically gained through a 2 to 3-year community college or university program in marketing, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The successful candidate must complete environmental, safety, and any other training as required by corporate policy. A minimum of four years’ experience in marketing and advertising is essential, providing a solid background in the administration and communication of informational, promotional, and advertising material. This includes the ability to research and analyse consumer trend data, market research, and other data sources.
Your experience should encompass developing, planning, coordinating, executing, and managing promotional and advertising campaigns, initiatives, and special events cost-effectively and to tight deadlines, including organising logistical arrangements, resources, and services. You will have experience maintaining relationships with advertising and media buying agencies, printers, and promotional item suppliers to ensure brand alignment and consistency across all channels. A strong working knowledge of media planning, buying procedures, and research skills is required, with practical experience being an asset. Good knowledge of marketing research techniques, economic principles, and their application, as well as production in various advertising and marketing mediums such as print, broadcast media, social media, digital, and community events or displays, is also important. Strong analytical, organisational, and time management skills are necessary, along with good interpersonal, diplomacy, and relationship management abilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills are paramount for this role.
