As a Student Graphic Design Assistant, your primary responsibility will involve executing small, simple graphic design requests using established layouts within Canva. This includes refining client submissions, resizing various designs, and expertly assembling new creations using client-provided text, photos, and graphic assets. A foundational understanding of visual identity and the ability to meticulously apply brand guidelines to all design assets is crucial for maintaining the University of Alberta’s esteemed visual standards. Beyond design execution, this role requires adept project coordination, involving proactive communication of project phases, timelines, and any necessary scope adjustments with both supervisors and clients. Effective client management is also key, as you will directly communicate with clients regarding asset suitability, edit cycles, and design change requirements. Your work will directly support the broader external relations efforts, ensuring that all visual communications effectively represent the university’s mission and values to its diverse community.
