As the Sr. AI Lead Architect at Definity, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence within a leading Canadian insurer. This position demands architectural leadership and deep technical expertise to define, evolve, and govern the enterprise AI platform, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and operationally ready AI capabilities across the organisation. You will work closely with technology, data, security, and business partners, translating complex business requirements into reusable AI platform components, standards, and patterns. A core focus will be on GenAI capabilities, ensuring they are designed and operated in alignment with enterprise architecture, governance, risk management, and responsible AI principles. This enables multiple delivery teams to build innovative AI solutions consistently and safely.
Your responsibilities will include defining and maintaining the enterprise reference architecture for GenAI platforms, encompassing LLM integration, orchestration, deployment, and evaluation patterns. You will establish AI architectural standards, design patterns, and decision frameworks to facilitate consistent GenAI solution delivery. Furthermore, you will design and guide the implementation of sophisticated GenAI systems that combine non-deterministic LLM inference with deterministic software, data, and workflow orchestration. Standardising enterprise patterns for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt lifecycle management, and agentic workflows will be crucial. Defining robust evaluation strategies and frameworks to measure GenAI quality across accuracy, relevance, safety, latency, and cost is also a key aspect of this role, embedding continuous evaluation and feedback loops into production AI workflows. This role provides significant experience in driving the strategic direction of AI within a dynamic enterprise environment.
To excel in this Sr. AI Lead Architect position, you must bring extensive hands-on experience architecting and operating AI or ML platforms at an enterprise scale. A strong expertise with cloud-native architectures, APIs, containerisation, and scalable backend systems is essential, with a significant preference for experience with cloud-native AI platforms from major providers like GCP or AWS. You should possess a deep understanding of model and artifact lifecycle management, continuous training, evaluation, and monitoring of AI systems, as well as data access patterns, SDLC, MLOps/LLMops guardrails, and operating models. Familiarity with GenAI tooling, orchestration frameworks, and LLM integration patterns will be critical for success.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, or a related discipline, complemented by 10+ years of combined experience in software engineering, data engineering, and AI/ML. Demonstrated experience architecting and operating production AI platforms at an enterprise scale is a mandatory requirement. Furthermore, experience defining AI operating models, governance frameworks, and platform strategies will be highly valued. Your pragmatic decision-making, strong risk-awareness, and collaborative team player mindset, capable of influencing across technology and business domains, will be key to translating AI platform strategy into well-architected, end-to-end GenAI solutions aligned to business outcomes.
