Definity, a prominent Canadian insurance leader, is seeking a dedicated Senior Regional Property Underwriter to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves expertly assessing, accepting, and declining new business submissions within the property insurance sector. You will play a crucial part in re-underwriting and adeptly negotiating renewals and policy endorsements, contributing significantly to our continued success in the Canadian market. As a Senior Regional Property Underwriter, a core aspect of your role will be to effectively negotiate the terms and conditions of risk acceptance with our valued brokers. This requires exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, whether through telephone, electronic mail, or in-person interactions. You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining strong, positive broker relationships, participating in production calls, and providing essential technical support. Your ability to clearly communicate complex insurance concepts will be paramount in fostering these professional connections.
To excel in this position, you will bring a minimum of three to five years of progressive experience in Commercial Lines underwriting. Candidates must demonstrate strong computer literacy skills and a proven ability to influence and effectively negotiate with various stakeholders. We are looking for individuals with strong analytical skills, capable of quickly interpreting data, information, and reports to make sound decisions. Furthermore, strong customer service and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. A high degree of proficiency in both English and French, particularly professional communication, is a critical skill required to service our diverse customer base across Canada.
