Join Definity's forward-thinking procurement team as a Senior Partner, Sourcing, where you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Technology Services Organization. This 20-month contract position, based in Waterloo, Ontario, offers a hybrid work model, blending in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Procurement Sourcing Partner who thrives in a fast-paced, regulated environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional value through strong vendor partnerships and astute risk management. Your expertise in strategic sourcing will be crucial in developing and executing strategies to ensure the availability of high-quality services for our organization and its customers. This role demands a strategic thinker with proven experience in navigating complex procurement landscapes.
As a Senior Partner, Sourcing, your responsibilities will encompass strategic sourcing and contract negotiations, leading RFx processes, and supporting contract negotiations with vendors to achieve organizational value and savings. This includes conducting financial reviews, cost comparisons, and comprehensive external market and vendor analysis. You will be instrumental in establishing category strategies, collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, and liaising with external vendor partners. A significant aspect of this role involves robust contract management, where you will partner with Legal Services to resolve discrepancies, establish new contracts, manage renewals, and interpret terms to address contractual gaps, ensuring agreements mitigate organizational risk.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for proactive risk management, working with second-line risk functions to assess and mitigate risks inherent across the vendor lifecycle, with knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements like OSFI B-10. Strong relationship management skills are essential for developing and maintaining connections with both internal stakeholders and external vendor partners, providing guidance on sourcing options and identifying strategic opportunities. The role also requires strong project management capabilities, independently facilitating information gathering, establishing reliable schedules, and managing multiple priorities to ensure deliverables are met within established timelines. Significant sourcing and procurement experience, particularly in technology procurement (cloud computing, software, data, AI, hosting), is required, alongside 7-10 years of direct experience in negotiating and drafting agreements. Proficiency in executive-level presentation materials and a data-driven approach to decision-making are also highly valued.

Your strategic thinking, analytical abilities, and problem-solving skills are paramount, supported by a data-driven approach to decision-making in all aspects of procurement and sourcing. Expertise in negotiation, presentation, facilitation, project management, and planning is considered second to none. You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at working effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks, and consistently meeting deadlines. As a seasoned procurement professional, you possess a full understanding of applicable legislation and industry best practices related to contract agreements and risk management. While not mandatory, experience using various procurement tools, including dynamic sourcing tools, auctions, spend analytics, procure-to-pay, contract lifecycle management, vendor management, and third-party risk management, would be a significant asset.
