The Rail Facility Assets Office is seeking a Millwright to ensure GO Transit facilities, plant equipment and systems are operated and maintained in a safe and effective manner. Your daily responsibilities encompass operational upkeep across the transit facility.

• Operates repairs and maintains equipment, systems, and structures.
• Troubleshoots minor electrical issues.
• Prepares records for the Supervisor relative inspections, work accomplished, etc.
• Operates and maintains assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools safely.
• Monitors the operation of on-site contractors.
• Identifies parts, components and materials required for repairs.
• Provides guidance to Plant Mechanics and Plant Serviceperson.
• Carries out emergency measures.
• Purchases parts, components, and materials relative to facility requirements.

Skills and experience

To qualify for this transit facility position, candidates must meet specific certification, licensing, and operational requirements.

• Must have an Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certification.
• Minimum of two years experience involving the operation and specialized maintenance of large facilities and of the associated equipment supporting Rail repair.
• Experience in gas cutting, soldering, brazing, gas and arc welding, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to operate forklift, personnel lifts (scissor or telescopic), and/or other similar equipment.
• Have a valid Ontario Class G Driver licence and must meet corporate standard for a good driving record.
• Ability to obtain GO Transit Equipment Operator Permit.
• Have a working knowledge of pertinent environmental regulations, codes and health and safety regulations.
• Successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy.
• Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid Certification.

Who you'll work with

Metrolinx operates GO Transit, UP Express, and the PRESTO fare payment system, while building new and improved rapid transit across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. As a Millwright, you will provide guidance to Plant Mechanics and Plant Servicepersons while monitoring on-site contractors to keep the transit network moving.
