  • Must be able to obtain qualifications in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR).
  • Demonstrated experience effectively relaying and receiving critical and technical information (written and verbal) to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a structured, disciplined, technology-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of the application of legislation and regulatory requirements governing health and safety in the construction industry.

Key duties

As a field specialist, you will act as an embedded member within corridor Delivery Teams, bringing construction and project management expertise. Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Undertake site coverage and provide site presence over project works regarding safety, quality, environment, engineering/design compliance, functionality, and commissioning.
  • Undertake handovers and inspections between Project Delivery Teams and asset operators or maintainers.
  • Monitor day-to-day construction activities to ensure alignment with planned works, workplans, corridor access, and permits.
  • Support coordination and deconfliction of concurrent and overlapping works between contractors, Delivery Teams, Operations, and asset stakeholders.
  • Track site progress and productions against project schedules, reporting through daily site reports including tracking under-performances and resource utilization.
  • Provide construction and project management level expertise into Metrolinx business units, including schedules, policies, standards, engineering assurance, and health and safety.
  • Undertake and participate in regular safety engagements with contractors and project teams to promote proactive issue resolution.
  • Manage the identification and resolution of construction health and safety incidents, escalating high-profile or complex matters to management.
  • Develop relationships with external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to secure cooperation and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.

Who you'll work with

You will collaborate closely within a workforce of driven and dedicated professionals in the Capital Projects Group.
