As a Material Handler with J.D. Irving, operating under the Kent brand in St. John's, NL, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of safety, service, and merchandising within the retail environment. This position requires a commitment to providing superior customer service, which includes warmly greeting customers, offering detailed product information, processing sales, and coordinating deliveries efficiently. You will need to be comfortable with a physically demanding role, involving standing, walking, and lifting items, sometimes up to 75 lbs. Your responsibilities will extend to maintaining meticulous store standards related to inventory management, replenishment, and merchandising displays. This involves diligently following a computerized operating system to keep inventory records accurate, whether receiving new products or processing write-offs due to theft or damage. Adherence to all safety standards is paramount in every task you undertake, protecting both yourself and our valued customers. Furthermore, you will be responsible for administrative tasks such as preparing invoices, quotes, credit invoices, and delivery invoices, all contributing to the smooth operation and excellent service we provide.
To succeed in this Material Handler role, candidates will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and a collaborative team player attitude. Prior sales and customer service experience is highly valued, alongside a high level of attention to detail, which is essential for accurate inventory management and transaction processing. The ability to lift 75 lbs. is a physical requirement for this position, and candidates must be prepared to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, to meet our customers' needs. You will also have the opportunity to learn and operate our specific computer system (D635) used for order processing, ensuring efficient service.
