Key Responsibilities
The Manager, EPM Application drives innovation and automation within the enterprise budget and forecast system to enhance efficiency and identify areas for improvement. This includes leading the development, enhancement, and implementation of the EPM software in alignment with institutional budget planning frameworks. The role supports ongoing maintenance and development of budget processes, ensuring clear communication to end users and senior administration. You will collaborate with the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis to propose software-supported solutions for budget process enhancements.
Key duties involve preparing the EPM software for annual planning cycles, ensuring data loads and user access, and maintaining system functionality, including opening/closing the system, validating data loads, and security. The Manager acts as the primary liaison with IST and IDA to ensure structural alignment with enterprise systems like PeopleSoft Financial, HCM, and the Data Warehouse, maintaining data integrations, integrity, and security. This position also involves setting up and communicating an annual calendar of major budget events for EPM software users. You will lead the design and development of consistent management reports, aligning with the evolving institutional reporting framework, and develop and implement user training.
Collaborating with the software partner and university resources, you will contribute to developing and executing a long-term roadmap for increased functionality. Furthermore, the role involves establishing a strong, cohesive, and high-functioning team focused on results, trust, dialogue, collaboration, commitment, and accountability. This includes assigning and managing the workload of functional analysts, providing job duties that support career goals, and offering timely mentoring and coaching feedback.
What You'll Bring
Candidates must possess at least five years of related experience, with some time spent in a key leadership role. A CPA designation is required, and experience with EPM software is strongly preferred. Essential qualifications include expertise in budget development and fiscal management, encompassing accounting and finance practises. You should demonstrate the ability to understand key business issues and implement financial solutions to improve systems and processes.
The role requires effective management of large projects and the capacity to gain buy-in from key user functions without direct reporting authority. Strong acumen in business and financial concepts and tools, such as budgets, operating and capital expenses, financial statements, Microsoft Excel, other Office products, and financial software suites, is necessary. The successful candidate will foster a culture of service and stewardship, identifying end-user needs and continuously improving business processes to meet requirements. Experience in managing a team, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management is also essential.
