What you'll do

As an Emergency Medical Technician with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, you will be on the front lines, providing essential pre-hospital medical care. Your primary responsibility will be to respond to a variety of emergency and non-emergency calls, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.   • Respond to emergency and non-emergency events.
  • Provide assessment, treatment, and transportation of ill or injured persons.
  • Operate consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and regulations.
  • Adhere to Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols.
  • Comply with The Paramedics Act and bylaws.
  • Follow Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures, and work standards.

  • Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute
  • Valid Class 4 driver's license
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)
  • Current CPR certification
  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Listening skills
  • Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis
  • Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations
  • Ability to be resilient
  • Positive approach to deal with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity
  • Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care
  • Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System
  • Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues
  • Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively
  • Ability to exhibit situational awareness
  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level
