This 18-month contract role as a Decision Support Programmer Analyst at Canadian Tire in Mississauga, Ontario, focuses on developing and supporting applications and processes within the Operations Planning Centre (OPC). The goal is to enable day-to-day decision-making and ensure efficient product flow.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Decision Support team, IT, and business stakeholders. They will provide technical expertise, business knowledge, and supply chain understanding, along with reporting, analysis, and coordination for essential Supply Chain processes and objectives at the OPC. This role requires a technical individual with strong knowledge of OPC business processes to facilitate rapid deployment and enhancement of cost-reducing applications.
Key responsibilities include developing, documenting, and maintaining applications in alignment with IT and industry coding and database standards. The role also involves supporting and maintaining existing applications, including documentation and code maintenance, to ensure smooth operation, which includes participating in a 24/7 paging rotation. Furthermore, the analyst will support business decision-making by providing ad-hoc information, reports, and databases, and work with users to define business and technical needs, translating them into user requirements. They will also make recommendations and explore alternatives, clearly communicating their pros and cons. Continuous learning in coding languages, database software, and systems, along with gaining expertise in business processes within OPC and the broader Supply Chain, is expected. Collaboration on integrating Canadian Tire Corporation systems and processes with other banners is also part of the role.
What You'll Bring
Candidates should possess post-secondary education in computer science, engineering, business, or logistics with a strong technology focus. A solid understanding of Supply Chain business processes and retail principles is essential.
You will have three to seven years of experience in the full lifecycle of application development, database design, and implementation. Experience in creating and maintaining UML-based documentation is an asset. A working and growing knowledge of AI-enabled technologies, including intelligent automation and Agentic AI, would also be beneficial.
Technical proficiencies include web development with ASP.NET (C# development with AJAX toolkit extension) and database development in Oracle and MS-SQL Server, specifically SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, and MS T-SQL. Experience with data transfers using SSIS packages is also required.
Beyond technical skills, strong analytical abilities are crucial, along with the capacity to prioritise and manage competing objectives while maintaining stakeholder expectations. You will demonstrate proven ability to facilitate formal and informal communications across all staff levels and work effectively at both conceptual and highly detailed levels. A collaborative spirit and a commitment to contributing to a learning environment within the Decision Support team are highly valued.
