About the Opportunity
The University of Alberta's Department of Computing Science invites applications for a full-time Academic Teaching Staff member. This in-person role is located at the North Campus in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a three-year term appointment, commencing in July 2026 and concluding on June 30, 2029.
Your Responsibilities
As a Data Science Lecturer, you will be responsible for teaching a variety of computing science and data science courses. These may include Introduction to Data Science, Principles and Techniques of Data Science, Responsible Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, File and Database Management, Scalable Data-Intensive Analytics, and the Data Science Capstone.
Beyond direct instruction, duties also encompass broader teaching support, such as course and program design and development, integrating generative artificial intelligence into curriculum, and assisting instructors with alternative delivery methods like online and asynchronous courses.
What You'll Bring
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree in a discipline closely related to computing science, software engineering, or data science.
Successful teaching experience is highly valued, particularly in team-based, capstone-project courses that apply data science and utilise modern cloud technologies.
