Role Overview
The City of Ottawa is seeking a dedicated Part-time Specialized Fitness Instructor to join the Recreation, Cultural & Facility Services department. This vital role contributes to building a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant City by providing high-quality fitness services. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for leading a diverse range of specialized group fitness and fitness-related classes within identified programs across various City of Ottawa facilities.
- Provide instruction for a wide variety of specialized group fitness and fitness-related classes in identified programs at the City of Ottawa, in accordance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures, rules and regulations.

Education and Experience:
- Completion of Grade 10 and Current Fitness Certification from a recognized fitness certification organization (or equivalent as deemed acceptable by management).
- Minimum of 6 months of experience or equivalent apprenticeship.
Certifications and Licences:
- Fitness Instructor certificate (e.g., canfitpro, YM-YWCA, Ontario Fitness Council or other recognized certification)
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
Knowledge:
- Corporate and Departmental policies, guidelines and directives
- City of Ottawa emergency response procedures
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

What You Need to Know:
- Language Requirement: Various language requirements; locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction. Note: Under the age of 18, requires a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters (Level 2) check in place of the Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3).
