Position Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a dedicated Part-time Service Representative I to join its Recreation, Cultural & Facility Services Department. This department plays a crucial role in fostering a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant City by ensuring communities, residents, and visitors have access to diverse recreation and cultural places, programs, events, and services. This position supports the department's mission by providing essential administrative and customer service functions, contributing to an excellent client experience in City facilities across Ottawa.

What you'll bring

To thrive in this Service Representative I role within the City of Ottawa, candidates should possess a foundational level of education and experience, coupled with specific certifications and a proactive approach to learning.

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Less than 3 months of experience working with the public

Certifications and Licences:

  • Current Standard First Aid certificate
  • Current CPR - 2-rescuer certificate
  • Current AED Operator certificate
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training

Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers, software applications and an ability to develop an understanding of corporate computerized registration booking software application required.
  • General office and administrative procedures.
  • Word processing skills.
  • Develops a working knowledge of the Department’s facilities and programmes in order to make appropriate referrals to other sites as required.
  • Knowledge of corporate computer software is an asset.

Competencies, Skills and Abilities:

  • Displays initiative, reliability and flexibility.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

As a Service Representative I, you will be instrumental in supporting the daily operations of an assigned Recreation Facility or Arts Centre. Your responsibilities will directly contribute to the smooth delivery of various cultural and recreation programs, ensuring participants and visitors receive excellent service.

  • Providing support to the assigned Recreation Facility or Arts Centre with programs such as day camps and swimming lessons.
  • Cash handling.
  • Customer service.
  • Programme information/registration.
  • Program support.
  • General administrative tasks.
