Responsibilities
In this Senior Mechanical Engineer role, your impact will include:
- Leading mechanical engineering design packages from concept development through detailed engineering, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with project goals.
- Developing mechanical systems, specifications, calculations, and deliverables that support safe, reliable, and high‑performing operations for mining, metals, and heavy industrial clients.
- Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical design with process, structural, electrical, controls, and construction requirements.
- Reviewing designs, drawings, and engineering documents to ensure quality, constructability, and adherence to industry codes and best practices.
- Providing mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior engineers, supporting team growth and capability development.
- Engaging directly with clients, contractors, and internal partners to solve complex technical challenges and advance project delivery.
Requirements
To excel in this engineering role, candidates should possess the following skills and qualifications:
- A University Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience, specifically within mining and heavy industrial projects.
- Experience in flue gas, dust collection, and ventilation ducting is considered an asset.
- Hold (or be eligible for) a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
- Proven experience solving real‑world engineering challenges, from equipment specification to system design and integration.
- Comfortable working in the field or onsite as needed, with strict adherence to all safety requirements.
- Working proficiency with mechanical design and modelling tools, with a commitment to continuously growing your technical toolkit.
