Cineplex is seeking a dedicated Seasonal Amusement Electronics Technician to join the Playdium team in Whitby, Ontario. This vital role is central to ensuring an exceptional guest experience by maintaining the highest standards of our gaming equipment. The successful candidate will be primarily accountable for the safe installation, meticulous testing, thorough inspection, and essential preventative maintenance of all gaming systems. They will also expertly perform necessary repairs to a wide array of amusement equipment. While the focus is heavily on gaming equipment, this technician may also be required to maintain or repair other critical equipment within the Playdium facility, demonstrating versatility and a broad skillset. A key aspect of this position involves executing a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all gaming machines, ensuring operational excellence and longevity.

The Seasonal Amusement Electronics Technician will perform a diverse range of technical tasks critical to the ongoing operation of Playdium. Responsibilities include the precise repair of complex gaming equipment, diligent execution of the preventative maintenance program for all gaming machines, and performing essential maintenance changes on gaming systems as needed. This role also involves installing necessary supports and software to ensure the full working ability of gaming equipment, alongside removing and replacing worn components to reactivate gaming systems efficiently. Regular preventative maintenance diagnostics are a core duty, ensuring proactive identification and resolution of potential issues. The technician must perform assigned equipment inspections and due diligence efforts, providing clear reports on conditions impacting customer satisfaction and operations. Furthermore, the role requires responding effectively to all technical issues and performing all preventive and corrective maintenance in full compliance with applicable programs, best industry practices, and manufacturer's recommended practices. Maintaining strict adherence to all safety procedures, including good housekeeping and safety of work areas, is paramount. Recognizing danger and safety hazards and proposing methods to eliminate them is also a required responsibility.
Candidates for this challenging role are required to possess a minimum college diploma in Electronics or a similar field, complemented by at least three to five years of related experience, particularly with gaming equipment repairs. Thorough knowledge of gaming equipment principles and operations, coupled with experience in diagnosing and applying preventative measures for gaming equipment, is essential. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, organized, reliable, and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, alongside a positive, professional, and adaptable demeanour. The physical demands of the job are significant, requiring the ability to work with tools, pipes, and various materials, and to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet. The use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as a hard-hat and safety boots, will be required. Manual dexterity is also necessary for using desktop computers and peripherals. This position may require working outside of regular operating hours to support installations, deliveries, removal, or repair of games, sometimes collaborating with other team members. Adherence to all health and safety requirements mandated by the organization is strictly enforced, ensuring a secure environment for all.
