Role Overview

The City of Ottawa's Cultural and Heritage Programs is seeking a dedicated Part-time Recreation and Culture Specialist, House Facilitator. This vital role supports multi-disciplinary arts centres, heritage, and museum facilities, contributing to the delivery of engaging public programming and events across Ottawa. You will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of cultural venues and promoting exceptional public service.

• Ensure theatre policies are enforced and procedures are maintained.
• Maintain health, safety, and maintenance standards.
• Promote excellent customer service relations.
• Account for bar, coat check, and souvenir revenues and inventory, and prepare cash deposits.
• Monitor, train, and provide guidance to front of house personnel.
• Provide emergency response treatment (First Aid/CPR) as required.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a mature, proactive individual with strong leadership and communication skills to join our Community Rec, Culture & Sport Services team. Your experience in supervision and public interaction will be crucial in maintaining high operational standards and fostering a positive environment for both staff and the public in Ottawa's cultural venues.

• Completion of Grade 12.
• Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience interacting with the public.
• Hospitality experience, preferably in a theatre, entertainment venue, or similar environment.

• Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates.
• AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
• Smart Serve certificate card from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

• City of Ottawa Policies and Procedures.
• Demonstrated awareness of safety/security of public.

• Excellent public relations, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team setting or independently.
• Experience in training and supervision of staff and volunteers.
• Excellent written/oral communication skills.
• Self-starter.
• Flexibility.
• Proven team leader.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex demands simultaneously.
