Our Canada Resources department, now encompassing Mining and Industrial, supports clients nationwide. This role is within WSP's Resources division (Industrial and Mining), which provides a full range of services to industrial and mining operators. We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our industrial department in Chicoutimi, Quebec. This position involves supporting local clients and major projects across Canada.
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will work on major industrial projects throughout Quebec, preparing plans and specifications to meet the needs of various industries, including aluminium, pulp and paper, aerospace, and mining. Your duties include producing or supervising the production of plans, specifications, and details for industrial, mining, or institutional mechanical engineering projects. You will also perform or supervise engineering calculations, prepare quantity surveys, and develop documents for budget estimates. Furthermore, you will oversee the production of tender documents, specifications, and other technical documents. Maintaining client relationships to define needs and present concepts or study results is a key aspect of this role. You will supervise the work of junior engineers, technicians, and drafters assigned to projects, performing quality control on all documents and acting as the discipline lead for meeting deadlines and budgets.
To succeed in this role, you will hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in industrial or mining mechanical engineering is required. You must be a member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec. Experience in consulting engineering is considered an asset. We are looking for someone with an interest in mentoring and knowledge sharing. A valid ASP Construction card (for occasional travel) and a valid driver's licence are also necessary.

The final salary may vary based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
