Education and Experience:

• Grade 10 diploma.
• Minimum age of 15 years.

Permits and Accreditations:

• Up-to-date National Lifeguard - Pool certificat.
• Up-to-date Advanced Lifesaving Instructor certificat.
• Valid General First Aid, CPR, or AED certificat.
• Valid Oxygen Therapy or Airway Management/SSV certificat.
• AODA Accessibility/NAI training.
• Up-to-date Advanced Lifesaving Instructor certificat (desirable).

Knowledge:

• Policies, guidelines, and directives of the Ville d’Ottawa and the Recreation, Culture and Facilities Department.
• Emergency response procedures of the Ville d’Ottawa.
• Relevant health and safety laws, including workers' rights and obligations.

Day-to-Day

On a daily basis, our Lifeguards are responsible for active supervision and immediate response to ensure the well-being of all pool patrons. This involves a proactive approach to safety and a readiness to act decisively when needed. The role requires vigilance and adherence to established safety protocols.
