Role Overview

The City of Ottawa is seeking an enthusiastic Introductory Sport Specialist to join the Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department. This vital department is dedicated to fostering a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant City, ensuring residents and visitors have access to exceptional recreation and cultural places, programmes, events, and services. This role is integral to delivering a positive client experience within City facilities.

As an Introductory Sport Specialist, you will be responsible for the planning and implementation of programme content, alongside the instruction, coaching, or coordination of various introductory sport programmes. Your work will directly contribute to the community's well-being and engagement across Ottawa.

• Completion of Grade 10
• Demonstrated experience in sport specialty area
• Experience in staff supervision
• Leadership training is an asset

Candidates must also hold the following current certifications:

• Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
• AODA Customer Service/IASR Training

What You Need to Know

The City of Ottawa serves a diverse community, and language requirements for these positions may vary. Some locations may require English only, French only, or bilingual competencies. A Police Record Check is a mandatory part of the hiring process. Successful candidates will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction, to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction. Please note that for applicants under the age of 18, a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters (Level 2) check will be required instead of the Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3).
