Our Canadian Resources and Industry team supports clients across the country, offering a wide range of services including economic studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, commissioning, and industrial programming. This Industrial Structural Technician position is based in our Chicoutimi office within WSP's Resources group, which provides comprehensive services to operators in mining, metallurgy, and other heavy industries. You will contribute to the planning and execution of construction projects or modifications of existing infrastructure.
You will participate in establishing effective work methods for project execution. Your role involves contributing to conceptual and feasibility studies for major industrial projects. You will perform 3D modelling and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures, and develop plans, specifications, and details based on industrial guidelines. You will ensure coordination among various disciplines involved in projects. There is an opportunity to supervise and verify the work of structural technicians and drafters, with potential for growth into a team lead role. You will also assist in estimating project deliverables and timelines. The position includes conducting surveys on industrial sites using modern tools such as drones, scanners, and laser tape, and performing work inspections on heavy industrial construction sites.
You must possess a College Diploma (DEC) in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant training. A minimum of 15 years of design experience in a related field is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam Revu software is essential. Mandatory experience in the resources and industrial sectors, including mining, metals, pulp and paper, petrochemical, and aluminium industries, is expected. An ASP Construction card is needed for occasional travel. Experience in consulting engineering is considered an asset. We are looking for someone with a strong sense of initiative, keen attention to detail, and excellent teamwork abilities.

The salary range for this position in Quebec is $81,100 to $107,700. The final salary may vary based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, geographic location, performance, and company or organizational needs. This salary range may also be subject to change for business reasons.
