This Industrial Structural Engineer position is within the Resources group, focusing on industrial and mining sectors. The role involves working in a multidisciplinary team to plan and execute construction projects for new infrastructure or modifications to existing structures. This position is based in Chicoutimi, Quebec.
You will participate in the coordination of multidisciplinary projects. Acting as a discipline lead on major industrial projects will be a key part of your role. You will perform design calculations and ensure plans comply with relevant codes and regulations.
Designing plans, specifications, and details for industrial structural projects is also a core duty. You will formulate recommendations and make decisions on complex technical aspects. Verifying the work of other engineers and technicians, alongside mentoring developing staff, is expected.
You will contribute to preliminary studies, budget estimations, and conceptual modelling. Performing site surveys at industrial locations using modern tools such as drones, scanners, and laser tape measures will be required. Finally, you will conduct work inspections on construction sites within heavy industrial environments.
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering is required. A Master's degree in Structures is considered an asset. You must have a minimum of five years of experience in structural project design, specifically with reinforced concrete and steel.
Experience in the resources and industry sectors, including mines, metals, industrial, petrochemical, or aluminum, is essential. Proficiency in at least one structural design software, such as SAP2000, Safi, or Advance Design of America, is necessary. Knowledge of Etabs and Safe software is an asset.
Membership in the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligibility to become a member is mandatory. An ASP Construction card is required for occasional travel. Experience in 3D design and consulting engineering is also considered an asset.
