job description

The Opportunity

The Yukon is a territory defined by strong communities, meaningful relationships, and an exciting future. From infrastructure and resource development to environmental stewardship and community growth, the decisions being made today will help shape the Yukon for generations to come. WSP is committed to supporting that future, and we are seeking a respected and connected leader to help strengthen our Earth & Environment presence in the territory and connect clients, communities, and projects with the expertise needed to create lasting value.

As Director, Earth & Environment, Yukon, you will lead market development efforts across the territory, building trusted relationships with clients, Indigenous Nations and communities, government, industry, and future talent. You will help identify strategic opportunities, guide pursuit efforts, and connect Yukon clients with the depth and breadth of expertise available across WSP.

This is an enterprise and market leadership role. While the position does not initially include direct reports, you will provide visible local leadership, helping to grow WSP's presence, relationships, and capabilities in the Yukon. Working collaboratively across WSP, you will bring together the right people, resources, and expertise to support clients, strengthen our culture, and advance our strategic objectives in the territory.

Your Impact

  • Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities across the Yukon, developing growth strategies that expand WSP’s presence, strengthen client relationships, and support sustainable revenue growth.
  • Partner with senior leadership to define and execute the regional Earth & Environment strategy, including growth priorities, performance objectives, operational excellence, and talent development.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and inclusion while supporting recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
  • Build strong relationships with key clients, Indigenous Nations and communities, government agencies, industry partners, and stakeholders, representing WSP in strategic pursuits and business development activities.
  • Collaborate across business lines and geographies to identify opportunities, strengthen service offerings, and deliver integrated solutions to clients.
  • Provide oversight of project delivery to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and evolving client needs to strengthen WSP’s position as a trusted advisor and industry leader.
  • Champion WSP’s health, safety, environment, and quality programs, promoting regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in earth sciences and environmental services, including leadership experience.
  • You are known and respected in the Yukon market, with established relationships across relevant client, government, Indigenous, industry, or community networks.
  • Strong understanding of the Yukon’s business environment, communities, decision-making landscape, regulatory context, and emerging market opportunities.
  • Natural relationship builder who earns trust, listens carefully, and brings people together around shared opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success developing markets, growing client relationships, and converting opportunities into sustainable work.
  • Comfortable representing an organization externally and have experience participating in industry associations, conferences, business forums, or community initiatives.
  • Lead through influence in a matrixed organization, mobilizing people and capabilities without relying on formal reporting authority.
  • Understand what attracts talented people to an organization and have contributed to recruiting, engaging, developing, or retaining strong teams.
  • Combine strategic perspective with practical follow-through and can move from market insight to clear action.
  • Communicate with credibility and are comfortable engaging with senior clients, Indigenous Nations and communities, government leaders, industry partners, technical specialists, and employees.
  • Demonstrated expertise in business development and project management.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Visible and personal commitment to health, safety, quality, and responsible business practices.
