The Role In this role, you will be at the heart of AWS operational excellence: your expertise will ensure the continuous availability of Amazon's global cloud infrastructure, maintained at a 99.999% reliability rate. You’ll combine practical technical abilities with analytical thinking as you: • Perform maintenance and servicing of electrical, mechanical, advanced security, HVAC, BMS/EPMS, and fire protection systems. • Diagnose and resolve critical technical issues promptly. • Schedule and accompany subcontractors during maintenance and service calls. • Work closely with operations and infrastructure experts around the world. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to push performance and reliability standards even further. Key Responsibilities • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems. • Respond proactively to incidents that may affect facility availability or performance. • Propose and implement cost-effective, sustainable operational improvements. • Conduct detailed technical inspections to ensure equipment performance, health, and safety. • Collaborate with global teams to maintain AWS data centre reliability standards. Basic Qualifications - Understanding of electrical systems (low and high voltage) and mechanical systems (cooling, ventilation, generators). - Availability to participate in an on-call schedule for co-location roles or rotating shifts for 24/7/365 coverage. - Ability to lift up to 49 lbs and work safely at heights. - Strong communication skills in English and French. - Due to the nature of the role that requires interaction with other Amazon entities globally and with Amazon employees and stakeholders in other provinces in Canada, bilingualism French and English is required for this position. Preferred Qualifications - Post-secondary education in electricity, electromechanics, or mechanics. - Relevant experience in data centre operations, industrial maintenance, or other mission-critical environments would be a strong asset. - Knowledge of power distribution and industrial cooling systems. - Proficiency with computer tools related to maintenance and analysis. - Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced technical environment. - At AWS, we value passion, reliability, and technical curiosity. Additional earnings may include shift premiums, overtime, and performance bonuses where applicable. Final pay rate will be based on factors such as shift choice, location, and experience.
